1. Once you have just finished the sign up process, then its all about creating posts, for this you need to read a lot about any subject, gather good interesting facts and data, don't ever dare to copy any one's blog or contents from other websites, because google's system are the smartest in the world & finds out even a single paragraph that's been copied othet websites or blogs. Also don't be oversmart in trying to copy the contents from an ebook, you will be dumped for that too.So let everything be typed by you & you alone.
2. Make sure you choose a nice, good name for your blog that is not complicated and doesn't involve too much of symbols (at the most a single hyphen ) or hard spelling. Also make sure that it is not too lengthy.
eg : www.funkydollars.blogspot.com, www.arunenigma.blogspot.com are good
www.freedownloads-arunenigma.blogspot.com is acceptable while addresses like www.road-to-your-destiny.blogspot.com are annoying and not good towards adsense point of view.
3. The number of posts matters always.Try to post atleast 25 posts before you apply to Adsense. As per statistics anything between 20 and 30 posts are good.Further these posts must be related and aimed towards a single topic or theme.
4.Don't include too many links in your posts.
